The AOTOS was very excited to host Eurovox 2020 from 24-26 July in Edinburgh, Scotland, however, the congress had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A part of it took place online on 25 July 2020.
Titled ‘Let all the world in ev’ry corner sing’, a large programme of events had taken shape under the Chairmanship of Heidi Pegler and alongside the EVTA committee.
Keynote speakers included Roderick Williams OBE (UK), Karen Brunssen (USA), Martin Vácha (Austria), Ineke van Doorn (Netherlands), Patricia Caicedo (Spain), Ron Morris (Australia), Kim Chandler (UK/Spain), Sascha Weinhausen (Germany), Nicholas Gibbins (UK), Scott Harrison (UK) and Mary King (UK).
After a high number of quality applications, 12 singers from across EVTA community had been chosen for our Young Professionals Programme (YPP) – representing Pop, Jazz, Classical and Music Theatre genres – to take part in the masterclasses as part of the conference. We are grateful to the EVTA member associations who were ready to sponsor their YPP singers to come to Edinburgh.
In addition, there was an unprecedented response to the ‘Call to Papers’. Over 70 applications were received and a large proportion of these would have been invited to present alongside the main programme.
